Dynamics, transportation and deposition of the suspended load and its interactions with other ecosystem components play an important roles in a watershed system. The present study aimed at assessing in the temporal and spatial variations of relationships between the suspended load concentration and some of contaminants viz. cadmium, chromium, nickel and lead transported in solute or solid forms. The study was conducted in the Zayandeh-Rud Watershed in the Isfahan Province, Iran, with an area of some 4946.28 km2. Suspended load samplings was made biweekly at Ghale-Shahrokh and Eskandari Stations in the upstream and from Pole-Zamankhan Station, the downstream of the Zayandeh-Rud Dam from April 2012 to March 2013 and the samples were analyzed by an ICP. Results showed high correlation between the suspended load concentration and particulate chromium content with efficiency coefficients larger than 63% (P<0.001) and 52% (P<0.05) in Ghale-Shahrokh and Pole-Zamankhan Stations, respectively. Results may be applied for a more proper management of water resources of the study watershed.
